Our Story
Welcome to Nonna's!
Nonna’s Kitchen, a beloved Black Hills restaurant, began in 2020 with the vision of creating exceptional homemade Italian food and a family dining experience that feels like sharing a home-cooked meal with loved ones.
The name Nonna was inspired by the grandchildren of the founders, who affectionately referred to their grandmother by the Italian title “Nonna.”
In 2022, we, the Steeves family, bought Nonna’s with the aspiration to continue the legacy of scratch cooking, quality food, and community. As an Air Force family, we've traveled extensively, but the Black Hills region has captured our hearts. We entered the restaurant industry when most of us were still kids, facing considerable challenges along the way. This journey has been rewarding as we’ve learned so much about community and hospitality through our guests at Nonna’s. We’ve come to love the Black Hills, Spearfish, and the wonderful friends we've made here.
The strength of Nonna’s lies in our dedicated staff, who not only prepare and serve our homemade Italian food but have also fostered a sense of family amongst themselves and within our town. They embody the heart and soul of Nonna’s principles. Our goal is not just to serve excellent food but also to create a welcoming family dining experience where friends and family can make warm memories together.

Come enjoy a meal where every dish made to order from scratch with love and passion. We emphasize consistency and deep flavors in our food!
We also pride ourselves on being able to accommodate almost any allergy, and being a scratch kitchen, we make almost anything work!
Craft Cocktails
Visit our underground cocktail lounge to experience a curated cocktail adventure crafted by our award-winning mixologist and our star team at The Tucked Tie, located below Nonna's Kitchen. There you can also indulge in our homemade desserts and vast spirits selection.
Curated Wines
We are delighted to offer the largest Italian wine selection at our Black Hills restaurant, featuring over 25 bottles to try and explore, alongside our selections from France, America, Germany, and Portugal, perfect for a family dining experience that includes our delicious homemade Italian food.
Premium Cigars
We are proud to offer a selection of cigars from Rocky Patel, Oliva, Romeo y Julieta, and Montecristo, perfect for our patio or to take with you on your adventures! Along with the cigars we offer a wide selection of Xikar cigar cutters and lighters (all backed by their lifetime warranty).
Amazing Staff
We have the best staff in our Black Hills restaurant—probably in the world—without whom we couldn't deliver our exceptional offerings. Our focus is on ensuring the best family dining experience, characterized by an unrivaled attention to detail and your wellbeing. We love getting to know our guests and encourage our servers, hosts, and floor crew to interact with everyone, treating each person like a friend. Our Building
Our Black Hills restaurant is one of several historic buildings in Spearfish. Built in 1895, it holds many treasures and stories from the past. It has been a blessing to incorporate that history into our modern style throughout our time spent remodeling, offering a unique family dining experience along with our delicious homemade Italian food.
